"I come from Ballaghaderreen (Bealach an Doirín), Co. Roscommon and I learned my earlier music from my father Jim, who came from Ballymote, Co. Sligo. He played flute, as did my Uncle Matt. They in turn learned from their father and so on.
The area of North Roscommon and South Sligo was and is very rich in fiddle and flute music, (Nothing else mind!) and most of the sources mentioned come from this area: Michael Coleman, James Morrison, Johnny Henry and the MacDonaghs. Well! That's about it."
